Just my thoughts #0299

Paradoxically, one of the reasons for Rome’s demise was that it kept winning wars. Victories expanded the empire’s territory, and the risks increased proportionally. Men, primarily middle-class men, volunteered as soldiers; the larger the territory, the longer the wars lasted, and the longer it took for them to return home. The women who remained at home were forced to borrow labor and became indebted to the nobility. Eventually, the women were sold into slavery, and by the time the men returned, their families had disintegrated. People don’t betray because they’re evil, but because it increases their risk. If the territory you’re in grows, you might reconsider your loyalties to the organization. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

Ability and skill are distinct concepts. When we refer to a person’s unique power as an ability, the capacity to translate that power into real-world action is known as skill. Some individuals fail to succeed despite having remarkable abilities because they struggle to bring those abilities to fruition in reality. Essentially, ability denotes potential, while skill represents the achievement of that potential. The market serves as a tangible environment where many express their aspirations; thus, regardless of how exceptional their abilities may be, relying solely on skill is insufficient. This is why luck plays a crucial role in success. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

Steve Jobs died of pancreatic cancer. I have often imagined what the world would be like if he were alive now. But how can we control our deaths? I certainly believe that there are some things that humans cannot intervene in. Whether we call it fate or luck, I think meeting a beloved spouse is also part of this, although we choose the spouse with our intentions. Some people believe that a person has been chosen and loved, but beyond that decision, I ponder whether there is a power with which humans cannot intervene... - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

In the Bible, David was a shepherd when he ousted the beast with pebbles and a sling, but when he threw stones at the enemy with the same pebbles and sling, he became the king’s son-in-law. The ability and tools are the same, but his life changed completely when the objects and situations of using them changed. The way to escape the crisis depends on the abilities and the ability to grasp the object and situation to which it is applied rather than the replacement or improvement of the skills and tools. Of course, luck is also important. Because luck also creates a situation. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

Talent is rather not to be developed. It is revealed. Efforts are made to enhance this revealed state, which we call “ability.” When this ability is randomly known to the public by chance, it is said to be “good luck.” Talent is given, and luck is also provided. We believe that a worthy human being puts in the effort. However, success is not solely determined by effort. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

Although the ratios differ, human success results from many factors such as intelligence, experience, knowledge, attitude, integrity, and luck. Of these, self-development theory emphasizes only a few factors with a powerful influence. As in all cases, the causes of success are different. So when learning success stories, you need to know the pitfalls. It may be like a successful person, but it never becomes the same. References should be made, however, to suit my situation. Therefore, it is important to know your identity. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”

If our daily diligence is repeated and accumulated, there is a huge difference between doing and not doing. If 0.99% of my effort and 0.01% of luck, achievement by the effort will be prominent, but also we cannot ignore the result with the achievement taken from luck. There are so many reasons that we must be modest after achieving our goals. Even so small and trivial, continuously repeating our diligence day by day, our lives should be changed. - Joseph’s “just my thoughts”
